I am preaching on becoming “Great” commission followers of Christ on Sundays. Obviously being committed to fulfill the Great Commission mean that we are devoted to the church. The church can become a stale institution and completely ineffective if we forget how God see the church. These next few weeks I will be looking at four names that the Bible calls the church. Last week I spoke on the church as the Household of God – simply we are a family. What makes understanding this metaphor is the condition of the family today and how dysfunctional it has become. In the same way the church as suffered from it own levels of abuse, neglect, division and abandonment. However when the church truly functions like a family and begins to care for each person as a fellow sibling, the church becomes priceless! This summer I heard this song while visiting a church. It is kind of “chessy” as our worship pastor might label it. But the word reflects what role the church should have in our life and how important the family of God should be!
I need you, you need me.
We're all a part of God's body.
Stand with me, agree with me.
We're all a part of God's body.
It is his will that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
I need you, you need me.
We're all a part of God's body.
Stand with me, agree with me.
We're all a part of God's body.
It is his will that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
I pray for you , you pray for me.
I love you, I need you to survive.
I won't harm you with words from my mouth.
I love you, I need you to survive.
It is his will, that every need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
